Welcome to the Year 2 Blog!

All of the children in Year 2 have settled fantastically into the new routine and class. We had some uphill struggle adapting to it but we made it and Im proud to say the children are being absolute stars. I have been really impressed with their learning and behaviour these weeks, especially with their literacy and maths work! Here is a little video to welcome you to our blog and give you a feel of our crazy class.

Whats Hot in Year 2 This Week:

HOMEWORK– Just a reminder to ask any homework related questions to me (Miss Chantelle), On Friday 29^th we will do the all about me show and tell and spelling test week 2 words. Remember maths and jolly phonics homework is marked with a red dot, and don’t forget to fill out the reading records… Thanks a million

HISTORY- This week we have started learning about fossils and how they are formed.

GEOGRAPHY- We are learning all about Spain, this week we have learned the regions around Spain and North South East and West

SCIENCE- We are learning all about food and nutrition… and how to keep our bodies growing, healthy and strong.

RE and SOCIAL STUDIES- We are learning about creation stories in different religions and we have also been talking about what we need to do when we have a problem…. Ask for help.

PE – This week the children have been learning defence and attack skills used in Football with Mr Adrian. Lots of team games and Team Spirit.

School Uniform – Please make sure your child is wearing the correct school uniform sports days for year 2 is Wednesdays and Fridays, thanks a billion.

After School Club- please remember that the after school activities are starting now in October, for those who are interested in joining or having more information please don’t hesitate to contact Miss Paloma.

I would also like to give a big thank you to those parents who took time out of their busy schedules to join us in our School for Parents evening. Hope you had fun, and have a better view on what it feels like to be back in year 2. We look forward to sharing more fun activities with you soon… stay tuned.

A big congratulations to our elected class Captains Maria and Gonzalo, they have been working hard to help around the classroom and help their friends.

Super Speller: A big congratulations to Bosco for his super spelling this week!

Creative Writer: This weeks Creative writer award goes to Ruben, for his incredible and very original letter from a crayon reminding children to use their imaginations.

Lion Heart: This weeks Lion heart award goes to Gabriel for encouraging his friend to keep going and not to give up. He earnt 10 points for his team Huffelpuff putting them in the lead.

Neat and Tidy Award: This weeks award goes to Maria and Sara for keeping the class neat and tidy and making sure the groups stationary boxes are all sorted and pencils are sharpened.
